Stack 'Em Up Quilt {new layer cake quilt tutorial!}

When I first saw this Hoist the Sails fabric collection by Citrus & Mint Designs, I knew I needed some of it! It includes my favorite colors (beautiful shades of blue and orange!!!) and the prints are just so cute. I think the octopus is my favorite.

I decided to get a 10” stacker so that I could create something that would showcase all of the prints in the collection and after sitting down to sketch, came up with this cute Stack ‘Em Up design.

I love the simplicity and modern feel of this quilt. I can imagine it with a dark background and bright prints in the blocks.

For the background on this quilt I chose a sweet pin dot print in denim. I like that it’s not a solid white and it adds some movement and texture the background.

I also went with some dense geometric style quilting and love how it turned out! I’m telling you, this new Handi-Quilter longarm is my favorite purchase in a very long time :)

I finished off the quilt with the fun multi-colored stripe print from the collection. I think it’s the perfect choice.
