Modern Puzzle Cushion Cover Tutorial

We have a favorite cozy pillow on our couch that has been well loved by the humans and dog ;-) The last cover I made for it was looking sad, so it was time to make a new one.

Modern Puzzle Cushion Cover by Amanda Castor of Material Girl Quilts

I’ve used this pattern before and even had it published in Love Patchwork & Quilting several years ago using some bright green and aqua prints. That version is still being used as a throw pillow on our bed.

The finished size of this cushion cover is 24” square, which is a great size for snuggling and using for a nice nap on a Sunday afternoon. It’s also a fairly common size, so not difficult to locate good pillow inserts. Our cushion is now looking good and refreshed with its new cover.

The below video shares how to piece the quilt top as well as how to create the zippered back enclosure. If you are intimidated by using zippers, give it a watch, I promise it really isn’t difficult!
