Oh The Places He'll Go {a finished quilt!}
A co-worker friend is expecting her first child in a little over a month, so I was excited to have an excuse to make another baby quilt!
I have named this quilt "Oh The Places He'll Go", which is my take on one of our family's favorite Dr. Seuss books "Oh The Places You'll Go".
This baby boy had a grandfather who was a pilot, so we decided some airplane fabric would be a good choice for his new quilt. All of the fabric for this quilt is by Robert Kaufman. The airplanes are from "Ready Set Go" and is organic cotton and the solids are all Kona (sorry, not sure of the color names, but the match perfectly!)
It is certainly a bright and cheerful quilt. I decided to try a little free motion loops and think it turned out great. It's almost like the path of a paper airplane ;-)
To get this done quickly, I did the binding by machine instead of hand. I think it turned out okay (still not very good at this method...I'm much better at hand stitching the binding).
The wind provided a perfect shot of the back of the quilt for me so that you can see it is backed in the airplane fabric as well.
This is my first official finished quilt of 2013! Maybe this year I should keep track to see how many I get done in a year...
Thanks for stopping by,
