W.I.P. Wednesday {11.20.13}

Happy hump day!  I've made some progress on my block of the month blocks from last week.  I decided to do a scrappy sashing using 2" finished squares.  It certainly is colorful!  I'm loving how it's looking so far.  It needs to be bigger though, so until I can go and find just the right border fabric this one will have to wait.

And after I finished the sashing on that quilt, I decided to cut into the scraps and leftover fat quarters from my Christmas tree skirt to put together a quick quilt top.  I just LOVE the colors in this Winter's Lane line by Moda.  I also adore the little cardinals because they remind me of my sweet great grandmother :)  They were her favorite birds and she was one of the best quilters in my family (if not the best!).  Although this quilt design isn't quite her style, I'm sure she would still love it.

I have ordered fabric for the back and hope to get it quilted and finished soon so I can snuggle under it while I admire the pretty lights on my Christmas tree with the matching tree skirt :)
