Composition Notebook Cover {a finished Christmas gift!}
I haven't shared this with you all yet, but I have a new co-worker who is also a fellow quilter and quilt blogger! Just three offices down from me resides Sarah of {no} hats in the house. If you haven't viewed her blog before you should check it out, she's an amazing talent. As you can imagine, even though there are 10 years that separate us in age, we became fast friends as a result of our love for quilting. In fact within the first week that we realized we shared this passion, we had planned a weekend together for Sew Down Nashville in April 2014! It is so nice to have a quilting friend that I can actually see face to face on a regular basis. I'm pretty sure my husband is happy about it too because it seems I bore him a bit less these days with my ideas/design questions ;-) Last week I was sharing a few design sketches with Sarah from my graph paper notebook and she mentioned how organized it was and that she needed a better system. So, of course I knew I had to make her one too.
I kept it simple and found this beautiful Lotta Jansdotter print (Florine in Dusted Plume) in my stash for the exterior. The photos aren't the best because I finished it late at night and had to rely on the lights around my cutting table.
With Aurifil 50wt. #1240, I quilted straight lines approximately 3/8" apart and used the edge of my walking foot as a guide. I had this pretty shiny purple button in my button jar and think it looks beautiful with the purplish/gray fabric.
For the flaps I pulled some of my Architextures Ledger print by Carolyn Freidlander and think it is perfect for her new notebook. Now I can't wait to see all of the beautiful designs and creations that will come out of it in the future.
