Layer Cake Sampler QAL Week 5 {Blocks 9 & 10}
IT'S FRIDAY!!! I have heard from a number of you how you've been looking forward to Fridays for the past few weeks so that you can see the next two blocks. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I honestly thought the only people that would quilt along with me were about 4 blogger friends and my mom :) I'm truly overwhelmed at the response from all of you fabulous quilters and completely blown away at your gorgeous blocks. Here are just a few of my favorites...but honestly I love them all.
Jessica's gorgeous blocks that have a lot of my favorite color AQUA - here
Paul's black & white with shades purple blocks - here
And Alison's bright and cheery blocks - here
So, keep those blocks coming and share your photos if you can on Flickr and Instagram!
Now, let's get down to business, here are today's blocks (and if you need to review the block piecing instructions, just click here.)
Block 9:
This is similar to one of our previous blocks, but just different enough to become it's own. Here are some other variations.
Block 10:
Oh I love how this block turned out, even if it does make me a little dizzy :) Below are some other variations.
A few of you have had questions regarding matching points and pressing your blocks (especially pinwheels). I always press to the side as described in the first QAL post, but that is just my preference. If there is a bump where a lot of the points come together, some steam from my iron (after the block is totally pieced) usually does the trick. There is no right or wrong way to do these things, just find what works best for you.
For tips on pressing pinwheels, check out my friend Tessa's post here.
And my other blogging buddy Anjeanette has also shared some tips on Practically Perfect Points that are worth checking out.
Thanks again for quilting along and be ready for next week when I share Blocks 11 & 12 and host a link up for you to share photos of your progress and WIN PRIZES!!!!
