W.I.P. Wednesday {7.13.16}
Happy Hump Day! It's been a couple of month's since I posted a WIP Wednesday, so I thought I'd give you an update. Summer has kept me busy and out of my sewing room a bit, but I have been plugging away on my #apqquiltalong quilt. I have finished piecing two corner sections which feels awesome! If you look closely at the photo below, I have pinned my quilt sketch to the design wall and the section in the middle of the quilt that isn't shaded out is what I have left...yep, only halfway there. :(
Here is a better view of how much is actually done so far. Why I thought a king size at 102" square was a good idea, I'm not really sure at the moment...but I'll keep sewing! I have no doubt when it is finished I will love it forever :)
After I pieced those two sections, I had a real need for a quick project to actually feel a sense of accomplishment (and completion!). So last night I pulled out this cute fat quarter (Crabtastic for Blend Fabrics) that has been in my stash for a long time and decided to make something with it.
And the result are what might possibly be the two cutest potholders ever! Aren't those crabs adorable? And I found the perfect shade of aqua in my stash for the lining/binding. No shopping required = awesome!
I did a quick machine binding job to finish them up (not my favorite because I'm not very good at it, but it's great for this project).
And the addition of the flaps to insert your fingers/thumb makes them even cuter.
What is one of your favorite things to make for a quick finish?
Amanda
