Jingle Jangle Santa {a finished quilt!!}
What will be my last quilt finish of 2018, Jingle Jangle Santa is clearly the most jolly!! :) Santa is a digitally printed panel designed by Urban Chiks from her Swell Christmas collection. I fell in love with this Santa the first time I saw him, but just wasn't sure what I'd do with such a large panel. Then I happened across a photo of Tricia Troester's quilt that was shared on Nicole's Instagram account and couldn't get it out of my head! I just had to recreate one for myself (okay, it's really for my son - but he has promised to share!).
The Ho Ho Ho! is a quilt pattern named "Jingle Jangle" by Robin Gump - (you can find it in her shop here). I think it's a perfect backdrop to this adorable Santa. I raw edge appliqued him on top of the completed quilt top and then cut away the fabric from behind him so that it wouldn't show through (the white on the panel is pretty easy to see through).
You know how much I love quilting straight lines (mostly because it's easy and I have confidence with it), so that is what I did for the Ho Ho Ho's.
Then after viewing other Swell Santa quilts, my son requested some custom free motion quilting on Santa himself (he didn't want stripes on his face - HA). I was really stressed that I'd mess him up, but I think he turned out okay and the beard kind of resembles whiskers :)
Since it is full on winter here and is dark right after I get home from work, it's really difficult to get a good photo. He is much brighter than it shows here, but I wanted to get some photos and share now because at the moment, Santa is getting washed and dried to make him crinkly and soft for my son to snuggle under in bed.
Are any of you making Christmas quilts this year? If so, I wish you the best of luck in getting all of your holiday projects completed. And I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
