Fresh Fat Quarter Quilts Book Tour

Today is my day on the Fresh Fat Quarter Quilts blog tour. My dear friend Andy Knowlton (A Bright Corner) has published her first book and it’s full of beautiful quilts made with pre-cut fat quarters. If you are anything like me, you find it hard to pass up those cute fat quarters at the local quilt shop. Whether you purchase them separately or in a bundle, they are a great way to add to your stash.

Andy’s book has 12 projects that will inspire you to break open your fat quarter bundles or pull from your fat quarter stash. The projects are divided into sections with patterns for 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14 fat quarters. The projects range from baby quilts through to queen sized quilts, and each is beautifully designed and includes easy to follow illustrations and instructions.

The pattern I chose from the book is called Sunny Day. The book’s version finishes at a 63” x 77” throw size, but I chose to make only 4 of the 20 blocks for a small 35” quilt. My original plan was to use it as a table topper, but a co-worker just had a little girl and I think this will likely be delivered to her next week once it gets washed, dried and all crinkly ;-)

I struggled to get good photos of this quilt because we have had rainy, cold and dreary days all week. The sun finally popped out for a minute, but the wind didn’t stop blowing!

What I love most about this quilt design is the scallop border Andy added around the blocks. It creates such a fun element to the quilt.

I highly recommend this book if you are looking for ways to use up your stash of fat quarters. I have no doubt you will find several patterns that you can’t wait to make.

To see some other beautiful projects created from the patterns in the book, check out the links below.

You can also follow the #freshfatquarterquilts hashtag on Instagram to see them all in one location.

Thanks to Andy for including me in her book tour and thanks to you all for stopping by,

Amanda
