Kaleidoscope Windows {a new quilt and video tutorial!}
I first made this quilt pattern a few years ago and then gifted that quilt to a friend who needed some cheer. When I saw Amy Smart’s Sugarhouse Park collection come out last year, I thought it would be perfect in this pattern and I think I was right :)
These fabrics are so sweet! My favorite prints are the tiny florals on white that I used for the background, the navy floral with dots on the borders and that dense multi floral that I used on the back. But honestly, ALL of the prints are great!
For the quilting, I amped up my normal straight lines with a fun crosshatch over the entire quilt. The lines are spaced 1 1/2” apart. I love the smooth texture it creates.
The quilt finishes at 62” square and was made using 16 fat eighths (9” x 22”), but you could also use 8 fat quarters for a less scrappy version.
I have a video tutorial with instructions on how to make this quilt below. You can also find a printable pattern in the video description on YouTube or at this link.
You could easily make a larger, bed sized version of this quilt by using 16 fat quarters instead of fat eighths and making twice as many blocks. You would also need to double the amount of background and cornerstone/border fabric as well of course.
If you make your own Kaleidoscope Windows quilt, I’d love to see it! You can tag me on social media @materialgirlquilts and use the hashtag #kaleidoscopewindowsquilt
Thanks!
