Riley Blake Designs Classic Quilt Block Challenge

Over the past couple of months, Riley Blake Designs has been hosting a fun (and stress free) weekly quilt block challenge on Instagram. Each Monday they shared a new classic quilt block with links to tutorials for each. I participated and made blocks from the first 10 weeks. Each tutorial shared instructions for making 6” or 12” blocks. I decided to mix the block sizes for a mini sampler quilt shown below.

I used Dream Weaver fabric and love how it turned out with the navy background fabric.

I think the Bear Paw block is my favorite! It’s the first time I’ve made this block, but have always loved the look of it.

If you’d like to play along and challenge yourself to create these classic quilt blocks, below are links to the tutorials for each. You can also see the beautiful blocks created so far from others by checking the hashtag #RBDblockchallenge on Instagram. No worries if you didn’t sew along with us each week, you can work on your own time table, these tutorials aren’t going anywhere :)

Week 1 – Churn Dash

Week 2 – Log Cabin

Week 3 – Friendship Star

Week 4 – Economy Block

Week 5 – Nine Patch

Week 6 – Shoo Fly Block

Week 7 – Sawtooth Star

Week 8 – Bear Paw

Week 9 – Maple Star

Week 10 – Bow Tie

Now to figure out how I want to quilt this cutie little mini quilt. Any suggestions?

Amanda
