Fat Quarter Mixer {a FREE, quick, easy and beginner friendly quilt pattern!}

Are you a fat quarter collector? I love fat quarters and tend to collect them when I visit my local quilt shops. This particular bundle from my favorite quilt shop Crimson Tate was just too cute to pass up. I love the colors and the pirate theme in the prints.

The bundle had 10 fat quarters and I was struggling to find a pattern that used all of them efficiently (in other words, one that doesn’t require me to cut out a small square from the fat quarter and leave the rest as scrap!). So I decided to come up with a pattern that basically uses up each entire FQ, with minimal scrap left over. Meet Fat Quarter Mixer.

This pattern would be great for larger scale fabrics or those prints that you would hate to cut up into small pieces.

I just love the navy print with the mermaids and the blue print with the pirate line up. So fun!

One of the best things about this pattern is how versatile it is. You can easily enlarge the quilt by using more fat quarters. The pattern instructions include material requirements for a total of SIX different quilt sizes up to 90” square. Below is a sketch of a twin or full size version (70” x 90”) using my upcoming fabric collection, Winterland.

Check out my video below for the tutorial on how to make the Fat Quarter Mixer quilt and you can find a printable pattern here.
