Giant Granny Square Quilt Tutorial

I have always loved the style and design of the Granny Square crocheted blanket (example shown from the Purple Poncho). And since I don’t crochet (I’ve tried…just doesn’t work for me!!), I decided to create a quilt version, only BIGGER!!

Introducing the Giant Granny Square Quilt.

The fabric collection that I used for this quilt is called The Old Garden and includes gorgeous florals and fun prints in wonderful earth tones. I think it will be perfect on our bed for the rest of the winter. This collection hits stores this month, so I’m waiting for it to arrive so that I can purchase my favorite blue floral print for the backing fabric.

If you have any suggestions for quilting designs that I should use when I am ready to quilt this, please let me know!! At the moment, I have no idea how I want to quilt it.

I promise to share more photos of this beauty once it has been quilted and bound (and residing on my bed!!)

Since this quilt is mainly constructed with squares, it is a great pattern for beginners. In the video tutorial below I show you how to assemble this quilt in sections and also how to sew on the setting triangles that are used along the outside edges of the quilt.
