Buffalo Plaid Quilt Tutorial

Buffalo plaid has been trendy for a few years now and I have always wanted to make my own buffalo plaid quilt. I found the perfect “textured” solid fabric that I think looks great in this pattern. Heather Peterson has a new line of Grass Cloth cottons that just hit stores and I chose the black, gray and cloud colors to use in my quilt.

The shades blend beautifully together and make my quilt look like actual plaid fabric!

For the quilting, I chose the Easy Clamshell Double design by The Quilting Mill. I think it looks fantastic on this quilt and gives it a great texture.

I also found a super cute black and white plaid to use on the back…isn’t it perfect?!?

This beginner friendly pattern is a quick finish, and in my video tutorial below, I share how to piece it efficiently by using the strip piecing method.
