Slanted Diamonds {a finished table runner!}

Okay, so it is confession time.  I started sketching out and piecing this quilt over a year ago!  I got side tracked on various other projects and the blocks I had pieced just continued to sit on my cutting table (usually under piles of other things).  I finally decided to pull it back out and finish it up. My original plan was to create a baby quilt because I had enough jelly roll strips to do so, but instead decided to make it a bit smaller and turn it into a table runner.  I'm so happy with how it turned out.  Don't the colors remind you of sherbet?!  The jelly roll I used is Moda Bella Solids in Warm Pastels.

Since I had opted to make a smaller version of the original plan, I had plenty of strilps leftover to piece a fun back.  Now it's reversible!

For the quilting I used Aurifil 50 wt #2140.  It matches the lovely orange sherbet color the best, but it blends perfectly with all of the others.  I simply echo quilted 1/4" on each side of the diagonal seams and love the texture it creates.

I used more strips to create a scrappy binding and even had several strips leftover.  I'm sure one of these years I will find a project for them ;-)

So, do you have any projects collecting dust in your sewing room?
