Looking Up {a finished quilt!}
Remember this stack from a few weeks ago?
Well, it has finally turned into a finished quilt! This is "Looking Up".
I made this for a friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 31. Her world has obviously been turned upside down and the best way I know how to help cheer people up is to sew them something from the heart. Now whenever she is having a bad day (and there will be many in the coming months) she can just wrap herself up in this quilt and consider it a hug from me :) I know it's not much, but I hope she enjoys snuggling under it. And if I can give her any comfort during this difficult time, then I consider it a success.
The fabrics in this quilt top came from a Moda Simply Style layer cake . I separated the colors and only used the blues, greens and aquas for this quilt. I really love how they look together. The rest of the layer cake contains grays, purples, pinks and yellows. I'm saving those for another quilt top :)
The background fabric is Moda Bella in Gray (9900 83). For the backing and binding I used Michael Miller's Dumb Dot in Aqua and it is a PERFECT match to the Simply Style aqua!
I named this quilt "Looking Up" because I wanted to remind my friend that in her time of need she should always look up to God and seek Him first.
"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
This is one of my very favorite verses from the bible and it always brings me comfort.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
