Winter's Lane {a finished quilt!}

Remember this quilt top from a little over a week ago?  Well it is finished...and just in time for the holidays!!

Winter's Lane

Here it is all quilted and bound and hanging out in our festive living room :)  I really do adore the colors in the Winter's Lane line.  The reds are so rich and the aqua is just the perfect shade to compliment it.

To piece this quilt, I used scraps and leftover fat quarters from my Star of Wonder Christmas tree skirt and cut them into 2 1/2" x 10 1/2" rectangles.  Then using 5 random strips, I pieced them into 10" squares.  I made a total of 36 blocks and pieced them together into this top that measures 60"  square.  It's the perfect size for snuggling on the couch because I usually have another small body wanting to join me ;)

For the quilting, I used Aurifil 50 wt cotton mako #2805 and created a figure eight loop within two "rows" of strips.  I love the effect it has on the quilt as it seems to soften it up just a bit.  And the aqua thread gives it such a fresh look.

Winter's Lane back

For the back I choose my absolute favorite print in this collection, "Mistletoe" in mint.  Isn't is just the prettiest fabric?

snuggling by the fire

This quilt has already been put to good use this holiday weekend and it's just perfect for snuggling under next to the fire.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
