No Waste Flying Geese Tutorial {and a new Heading South quilt!!}
Flying geese are one of my favorite elements in quilts and today I’m going to share my absolute favorite way to make these blocks. This method is a double bonus because you can make four blocks at a time and there is truly no fabric waste!!
The quilt shown here is a new version of my Heading South pattern using Riley Blakes’ new hand dyed batik fabrics. These fabrics are just gorgeous in person - the photos don’t really do them justice!
The colors I chose for this quilt are Mandarin, Sunflower, Lemongrass, Ocean, Violet 4 and Pale Aqua for the background. They make the happiest rainbow of geese heading south for the winter :)
The quilting design I chose is called Time Warp and I LOVE the texture and movement it adds to the quilt!!
The No Waste Flying Geese method looks complicated at first, but I promise it really is simple. Below is a chart that includes cutting requirements for many sizes of flying geese blocks as well as the piecing instructions. You can also download a PDF version of this chart by clicking here.
A video tutorial with me using this method is linked below. Watch and see how simple it is to do and how efficient it is to make four blocks at a time!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
