Kansas Dugout {pre-cut friendly quilt pattern!}
The Kansas Dugout quilt pattern is a classic design that has been beloved by quilters for generations. It is inspired by the traditional quilt blocks used in the prairie regions of Kansas, where resourceful pioneers transformed their humble dugout homes into havens of warmth and comfort.
The Kansas Dugout pattern consists of elongated diamond shapes arranged in a visually captivating manner, creating a sense of movement and depth. The interplay of colors and fabrics in the Kansas Dugout pattern allows for endless variations and customization, making each quilt truly one-of-a-kind.
Traditionally this pattern is made using the english paper piecing method, but I am going to show you how to create this beautiful quilt using your sewing machine (for a much quicker finish!!)
The fabrics I chose for this quilt are the Lost at Sea collection and I love the addition of the teal to the traditional red, white and blue pallette. And those crabs and whales are just too cute! For the quilting I chose a nice basic loop which creates a wonderful texture.
For my Kansas Dugout quilt pattern, you can use either pre-cut 5β squares (charm packs) or 10β squares (layer cakes). Just add a little background fabric and some borders to finish if off perfectly.
