Jelly Roll Log Cabin Quilt

I had a partial jelly roll in my stash of Carolyn Friedlander’s CF collection that I didn’t really want to split up into my scrap bins, but wanted to use them together in a quilt. When looking online, I found a beautiful log cabin quilt made by Jeni Baker and was immediately inspired to make my own version.

This particular jelly roll had a fairly even amount of light and dark prints, so I was able to split them up and lay them out to create this striking two tone design as in Jeni’s original quilt.

The finished size for this quilt is 46” square and is perfect for a small lap quilt or a nice toddler nap size. I could have likely made it at least 50” square if I hadn’t already used up some of my strips from the jelly roll. Also, once you get beyond approximately 42”, you will need to piece your strips, so if you have multiples of some prints - save those for the last rounds of your giant log cabin block.

To finish the quilt off, I pieced the leftover strip sections together to create a fun scrappy binding - perfect for this quilt!

I also created a little YouTube shorts video showing how I pieced this cute quilt - click here if you’d like to see it.
