Magnolia Quilt Tutorial
Summer temps are finally starting to arrive here in Indiana and I’m very happy about that! This Magnolia quilt seems like summer to me and would make a great beach/picnic blanket.
The fabric I chose for this quilt is called Southern Charm by Riley Blake Designs. I’m loving the soft, almost muted colors in this collection. Especially paired with that creamy beige magnolia print that I chose for the background and borders.
The blocks in this quilt are a traditional Crown of Thorns and finish at a generous 15”. I’ve always loved this block and keeping them simple with one fabric per block creates a nice clean/fresh look for the quilt.
I love crosshatch quilting, and this diagonal crosshatch gives the perfect amount of texture while still leaving the cozy, soft and snuggly feeling. And of course I used one of the plaid prints for the binding!
Here’s a closer look at the beautiful prints and scrumptious texture 🤩
Magnolia is a fat quarter friendly pattern and is a great quilt to use up some of those FQ bundles you’ve been holding onto because it showcases each print so well.
GIVEAWAY ALERT!! - I have some scraps left over from making this quilt as well as this adorable panel. Leave a comment below letting me know if you still like to sew/quilt in the summer months and if so, what your favorite projects are to make. I’ll choose a winner by June 13th.
