Fat Quarter Quilt Patterns
I’m a big fan of pre-cut quilt fabric. Fat quarter bundles are such a versatile option when shopping for fabric. They give you great variety in prints and help to ensure your fabrics will all coordinate.
I’ve assembled 25 of my favorite fat quarter projects here to give you plenty of inspiration on creating with these pretty bundles of fabric.
The Magnolia pattern is such a beauty! Each block finishes at 15”, so they are fantastic for showcasing your fabrics. You could easily adjust the size of your quilt since it is one fat quarter per block.
The Amberlight quilt pattern allows the star blocks to shine by setting them off with sashing that matches the block background fabric. The sashing also creates a fun secondary design between the blocks that help to make this quilt stand out.
The Amberlight II quilt is a variation on the Amberlight quilt shown above with a slight change to the block fabric layout and removing the sashing. I struggled deciding between the two designs, so decided to make both. 🥰
The Cottage Path quilt pattern includes a combination of two different quilt blocks pieced together to create a lovely design. I especially love the dark blue background fabric and border on this one! The pattern also includes FIVE different size options.
Checkmate is such a cute little pattern and my version is extra “checky” given the fabric I chose. This is a simple patchwork pattern that is perfect for beginner quilters.
The Fat Quarter Plus quilt is a striking + design that looks great with any fabric and is also beginner friendly. This quilt finishes at 64” x 76” and uses 20 fat quarters, but there are other size options as well.
Twilight is one of my all time favorites, partly because I love the fabrics, but also because I love the gradient color layout which imitates the sky at twilight. The quilt finishes at 58” x 78” and is a great pattern for all level of quilters.
Seeing Stars is a simple, yet striking quilt design that comes in four different sizes (crib, throw, twin and queen). As you piece this quilt top, you’ll start seeing two sets of stars form!
Sparkle is such a gorgeous quilt, I just love the way the bright, primary colored prints play with the low volume prints in the setting blocks. These traditional Ohio Star quilt blocks are set on point to add a bit of extra style.
The Duplicity quilt blocks are made with all half square triangles and by rotating them, it creates a fun design. One of the best things about this pattern is that all you need for the quilt top are fat quarters! No additional fabric needed.
The Double Square pattern is perfect if you have a bundle with equal light/dark prints. By pairing lights (or mediums) with darks, it creates a beautiful block design. Sixteen fat quarters is what you’ll need to make these sixteen blocks and the finished size is 66” square.
The Crossroads pattern is a beautiful geometric design. The quilt shown is a perfect throw size, but the pattern also includes 3 additional quilt sizes.
Glow Up is a fantastic half square triangle quilt pattern that only needs 16 fat quarters. I love this Halloween version, but think I need to make another with different fabrics. Just love this design!
The Falling Leaves quilt pattern is a fun modern design using traditional maple leaf quilt blocks. You’ll need 11 fat quarters plus the background fabric to make this 69” x 83” quilt.
The Bear Tracks quilt pattern is such a fun twist on the classic bear paw quilt block. I love the movement in this quilt! You will need 15 fat quarters to create this 60” x 72” throw size quilt.
The Churn Dash is a such a cute quilt block! You can learn to piece these traditional blocks with this pattern and by using 12 fat quarters, you will get a 54” x 72” quilt.
Brick House is probably the quickest quilt make I’ve ever completed! I particularly love this flannel version. It is so soft and cozy and has a heavier weight. We call this one the “sleeper” at our house because as soon as somone lays on the couch and covers up with this quilt…it’s automatic that they will fall asleep! 😴
The Quarter Stack quilt is another beginner friendly pattern that comes together quickly. The pattern also includes multiple quilt sizes.
The Fat Quarter Mixer is hands down my most popular quilt tutorial. I’ve seen it made up with so many different types of fabric and it looks great with them all! Not only is this a quick and easy pattern, it also includes SIX different size options.
Kaleidoscope Windows seems like the perfect name for this quilt pattern with all of the beautiful colors in these blocks. Each block appears like a window and you will need either 8 fat quarters or 16 fat eighths to make this 62” square quilt.
The Stargaze pattern is such a beautiful design and looks fantastic in these winter prints, but looks amazing in reds and greens for Christmas or reds, whites and blues for a patriotic version. The pattern also includes instructions for making a table runner.
Shine Bright is the latest quilt pattern made with my new fabric collection, Secret Garden. The pattern shows both large and small stars and then has an added bonus of sashing that creates additional stars surrounding the small stars. With so many stars, this beauty shines bright!
Beluga is a striking fat quarter pattern that finishes at 86” square. These large blocks are pieced with simple rectangles and squares, so it is a great pattern for beginner quilters.
The Star of Wonder Christmas tree skirt pattern also includes a bonus table topper! The tree skirt finishes at 48” and the table topper finishes at 24”.
